to the UN Women and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Iran ranks 181 out of the 190 reviewed
countries for women in parliament and 166 for women in ministerial positions.52
Despite these positive steps, the aforementioned structural and institutionalized obstacles limit
the access of women to the political life who, in practice, still face widespread discriminations.53
In light of the above, the rights enunciated under Article 25 cannot be exercised without any
limitations or restrictions other than those provided for in the ICCPR in the Islamic Republic of
Iran.
