the offence.14 Executions of child offenders continue to be carried out in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Four convicted child offenders were reportedly executed in 2019 in the Islamic Republic of Iran.15 At least 4 juvenile offenders were executed in both 2019 and 2020 respectively. Of those, 2 were executed on rape charges and 6 were executed on murder charges. 16 17 There is no readily available information that might indicate the existence of steps taken by the Government to repeal all laws imposing the death penalty against child offenders. The Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has not ended the execution of minors, and further amend the draft juvenile crimes investigation act and the Bill of Islamic Criminal Code with the aim of abolishing the death penalty for crimes committed under the age of 18. The Islamic Republic of Iran has not commuted all existing death sentences for offenders on death row who had committed a crime while under the age of 18.
