Full Recommendation:
The Committee encourages the State party to consider signing and ratifying the Optional
Protocol to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
Assessment
As of February 2021, the Islamic Republic of Iran has not ratified the Optional Protocol to the
International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.1 There is no readily available
information that might indicate that the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is
considering ratifying the document.
