Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran A/HRC/28/70 para 87 Full recommendation: The Special Rapporteur reiterates his firm belief that the Government could significantly improve the country’s human rights situation by implementing recommendations made during both universal period review cycles and those made by the Secretary-General, the Commissioner for Human Rights, the treaty bodies and the special procedures. This includes reconsidering previously rejected recommendations to accede to the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the two ILO conventions related to collective bargaining and the formation of unions. Assessment Iran has not acceded to the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment1, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, the ILO Right to Organise and Collective Bargaining Convention, 1949 and the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organise Convention, 1948.2 Considering this information, one can deduce that Iran has not reconsidered previously rejected recommendations to accede to these conventions. Recommendation Status: This recommendation has NOT been implemented. 1 2 https://indicators.ohchr.org/ https://www.ilo.org/dyn/normlex/en/f?p=1000:11210:0::NO:11210:P11210_COUNTRY_ID:102800 1
